Mrs. Kennedy has done it again, she always brings us sexy, funny, addictive stories and this was no exception.

I loved the story of Jake and Brenna. It made me laugh, sigh, blush and obsess with the characters, they are everything.
Brenna is the daughter of the coach of Briar U and Jake is the captain of Harvard team, rival team of Briar. But despite their rivalry, Brenna needs Jake's help to pretend to fake date with him and he agrees in exchange for a real date.

Brenna is so sexy, fun and brave, I loved her strong personality and her charisma to make everyone who approaches her fall in love. Jake is perfect for this story, sexy, focused, sweet, intelligent, knows what he wants and does what he needs to get it. I love him.

I loved their interactions, so funny, their dialogues made me smile so much, the chemistry of these two, ufff, is off charts, my tablet almost caught fire, their passionate and sexy scenes made me blush countless times, and the forbidden tint is the cherry pie, and I loved as their relationship evolves as the plot progresses.

My weakness is the stories of enemies to lovers and this has all the necessary elements to keep you hooked from start to finish. Add it to this fake date and you created an obsessed addict in me. Definitely another MUST READ by this author. I can not wait for the next installment in the series.

The Risk is the second book in the Briar U series by the fabulous and talented Elle Kennedy. I have been looking forward to this story since the end of The Chase! There was just something about Jake Connelly that made me want so much more of him! Let me tell you, it was so worth the wait! I loved getting back in this hockey world of Elle's since that is where my love for her and her books started. Brenna is fantastic. She knows who she is and she doesn't care what anyone thinks of her. She's confident, smart, determined and gorgeous. She absolutely cannot get involved with the enemy. Jake plays for the enemy. The Harvard hockey team. Jake is confident, cocky, smart, oozes sex appeal and has had his whole life planned out since he first put on skates when he was a kid. He wants to end his college hockey career with a bang. He's going to the NHL and he doesn't have time for distractions. Brenna is a sexy, walking distraction in red lipstick. He can't afford to get mixed up with her. But after one accidental meeting he can't get her out of his mind. He has never been drawn to a woman like this before. He can't stop thinking about her and when she asks for his help to get an internship that's going to help the career of her dreams, he agrees. But only if he gets a real date for every fake one. He not only wants to get her in his bed, he wants to know what makes her tick. Why she's so strong, outspoken. And why the red lipstick? What happens when all the pretending becomes real? Will Jake be able to have his woman and hockey at the same time? I loved this story! So much! I have literally been counting down the days for more Jake. Just the taste of him from The Chase wasn't enough. He's everything. I loved his confidence and his honestly. I loved how he put his heart on the line because he just had to know. And of course how damn hot he was! Brenna wasn't going down easily. I loved how secure she is! They are the perfect combination of mature, driven adults who go after what they want!
I loved meeting Brenna in The Chase and couldn't wait to read her story (and find out who deserves her heart). Though this is book 2 in the series and can be read as a standalone, I definitely recommend The Chase since that's where our hero and heroine are first introduced.

Sparks were already flying between Brenna and Jake from the moment they meet and the witty banter continues in The Risk. Their back and forth was so delicious and I loved that they each gave as good as they got. Jake is not over the top alpha, but he's also not an overly sweet or coddling kind of guy. He's pretty selfish for the majority of the book, but I respected his dedication and drive to hockey and his future. Brenna is actually pretty similar in personality, which is why the relationship still worked for me. I would have loved even more hate/love between them and felt that the enemies to lovers vibe fizzled out a little too quickly, as did the fake relationship aspect of the story. Brenna's back story was much more emotional and poignant than I thought it would be and the storyline with her father (though a little prolonged) provided a lot of insight into her actions. The push and pull at the end wasn't too angsty, and I was glad that it resolved fairly quickly. I would have liked a little more groveling, but that's not Jakey's style. ;) Overall, I really liked Jake and Brenna, but I'm not sure I *loved* them.

Catching up with Summer, Fitzy, Hunter, and Hollis was wonderful and fun, but it was the little nods and mentions of Garrett Graham (forever my favorite Off Campus guy) and Ryan Wesley (#Wesmie!) that left me with a dopey grin on my face. The storyline between Hollis and Rupi was good comic relief, but I will admit that Rupi was too over the top for me and began grating on my nerves. The entire storyline with Hazel also felt pretty unnecessary and was too cliche and predictable. I would have loved more about Nate Rhodes, especially some insight into his uncharacteristic reaction during the finals, and it seems like all signs are pointing to Hunter to be the focus of book 3 in the series. Elle Kennedy likes to surprise us though, so who knows where the series will go. I just know that I wish it didn't have to eventually end.
