More hockey than romance...
Personally I wouldn't call this a romance, not really ,hockey should have been a part of the story not the bulk of the story ...
Call me old fashioned I feel the main course in a romance should be the relationship between the MC's, but these two don't even KiSs to well over 50% of the book almost 60%....
Sure it's a hockey based story but the romance front and center not a side dish... while I admired Faith, a fairly strong and intelligent woman, who while having to make choices and decisions for survival most of hopefully don't have to face and even fewer of us understand, she was very kind and fairly moral woman, that no one wanted to see her as more than a pretty face and a set of nice boobs,( maybe her assistant ) definitely not a fellow reviewer who misguidedly called "her a sex pot w/big boobs " who complained there too many of those in books and not bough small breasted nerdy girls like herself, well I don't know what book you read but Faith for over 1/2 the book downplayed her sexuality that n a failed attempt for ppl to see her more then her sexual past and sadly that reviewer like all those in the book just like the prick of an H only saw what they wanted for their own selfish reasons.... btw small women are what you find in more books...
Seriously it was depressing how all anyone was to see the h was a pretty body of rear and breasts, especially Ty I kept hoping someone would get close to her and let us get to know her better, know more about the real her and the back story than made her who she was, but No...
I kept going to 83% and by 70% they'd started to have sex but that's a.l it was and I honestly didn't care by then ...
Ty made me sick, quite honestly there not much to him,all he wants to do is play hockey ,play cards w/the guys and fantasize about the h, he didn't really want to get to know her, even after he started to have sex w/her he really just wanted to sex her as a sex object ....
That's all anyone wanted to see, and Faith was soo soo much more and even though she said it was ok , she said she didn't care and as much as she tried ,Faith was a prisoner to those pathetic misconceptions and opinions of others.....
To me if this had really been a "Romance" hockey would just been the background for the romance and the H would have cared enough to be trying get to know our sweet lil h though out the entire story to help her blossom and shine ,he would have wanted to get to know the really her not still clinging to who he thought she should be at over 75% of the book....
After all that ( skipped to the end) it ends w/what felt like a last minute happy for now ending ...
No Thank you!!!
3 stars in appreciation for the hard work and effort , 2 stars for how little I e joyed this experience...
Never again..

True Love and Other Disasters Chinooks Hockey Team Rachel Gibson Books Reviews

I have to admit. When I first started reading this book I had in my head that I probably wouldn’t like it it. I’m not a fan of hockey and honestly not a fan of Faith’s past. But as I got into the story, I found that I actually liked Faith. I found her to be a strong likable character. I’m still not a fan of hockey, but overall really liked the story.
The first book I read in this hockey series was Sam LeClaire's. It had love realized, redemption, some humor and a story that evolved. Since the characters from True Love and Other Disasters were in Sam's story, I decided to back track and read it. BIG MISTAKE. I'm all for some suggestive conversation during an intimate scene, but it seemed distasteful rather than stimulating. The sex scene "conversations" or leading up to those scenes, seemed crude and immature. It wasn't sexy and I sure wasn't rooting for them to get together. Also, you think at the beginning of the story, Faith is evolving and learning to stand on her own, but then all they have her
do is shop. That's ridiculous. You can't try to make her into this respectable owner who is taking the hockey ownership by the the horns and then have her do nothing but talk about shopping when she has dinner with her team. Ugh! Everything was wrong with this story. The crudeness of his "dirty talk" was the worst. It wasn't sweet or enticing; just crude, as if he just picked her up off the corner.
I really enjoyed a lot of Rachel Gibson's previous other books. I usually have a few laugh out loud moments but not so in this book. In fact I ended up skimming it more than reading. I just didn't like the main character Faith all that much and the chemistry between Faith and Ty was lacking.

This book centers around Faith, a former stripper and Playboy Centerfold who married an eighty something year old rich man. When he dies, he leaves her 50 million and his hockey team. Faith knows nothing about hockey but because she can't stand the way his son treats her and he wants the team she decides to keep it. Ty is the captain and of course not happy about a former playmate owning the team especially when it's obvious she has no knowledge or experience. He is of course attracted to her after all she's gorgeous and has a very large chest.

Neither one of these characters is at all relatable. I could get past Faith being a stripper and a playmate and I even liked that she accepted that and didn't let people make her feel bad for her decisions. What I couldn't get past was that she was a woman who never had sex with her husband and had never really enjoyed sex until Ty. I also didn't like that she was basically involved wit Ty within days of her husband dying. You never see her grieve and yet she says he was her best friend and she loved him. I'd have been happier if she was just a gold digger with little feelings for her husband if she was going to be with someone else in a couple days. Then there was the fact that we are supposed to believe that Faith is growing and trying to become more self reliant yet all she talks about when she's on the road with her team is shopping.

Ty was okay, not my favorite hero but not horrible. However, he was inconsistent. I'm not sure why he went from being adamant that he wouldn't get involved with her to groping her while out to dinner with his dad and her mom. He would be angry and belligerent one minute and then sweet the next and yet no real understanding why his moods changed so fast. Of course, I didn't get the love connection either, seemed like instant lust but I have no idea when or how they fell in love with each other.

My advice - skip this one.
